Curing Food Allergies

Everyone desires sound health. So we’re more conservative about our wellness and bodies. Even if you took a good deal of care of your body, many folks still need to confront some allergies. This can caused by different foreign substances. All the same, these allergic reactions are the magnified immune response to basic substances. Major Advantages Of Food Strainers

Some people make the mistake of thinking that food strainers and colanders are the same thing.  They may look similar and do a few of the same jobs, but a strainer can do many more useful things than your standard colander.  Your colander might be great for rinsing lettuce and draining potatoes, but the strainer has a ton of advantages that I want to share with you in this post!

First off, we should clarify the difference between the two.  A colander is generally a bowl with larger perforations in it that stands on its own in the bottom of the sink.  The large holes make draining water quick and efficient.  A strainer, on the other hand, has much smaller perforations or even a mesh bottom.  Since the holes are so much smaller a ton of new uses are opened up for it.

Simple tasks like juicing a lemon for salad dressing or sauces can be made even easier with a small strainer.  Squeeze the lemon into the strainer and let it catch the pulp and juice.

Juicing other, more difficult, things like blackberries and raspberries becomes extremely easy with a mesh strainer.  Just put the berries into the strainer, then use a large spoon to push the juice out of them.  The skin and seeds will stay behind in the strainer!  Try doing this into melted chocolate for a delicious ganache that dresses vanilla cupcakes perfectly!

Any metal strainer also works very well for sifting the dry ingredients in baked goods.  Put it on top of the bowl that you are mixing the flour and leavening in measure the dry stuff into the strainer.  Shaking it into the bowl will perfectly sift all of it together for a great mix.

These are just a few of the excellent things that you can do with a food strainer.  It’s such a versatile tool, and it’s unfortunate that many people just assume that their colander is enough.  Having both is key to a well stocked kitchen!

Why a Meco Charcoal Grill Is a Good Choice

Grilled food is healthy to eat. This is mainly because oil from any meat drips off, and generally, cooking oil is not used. To get the most out of grilling, it is wise to select a good outdoor grill which uses charcoal. Since meat or vegetables will be cooked over the burning charcoals’ smoke, the retained flavors will be richer and any meat will be juicier. Read More…

Are Styrofoam Cupcake Stands Any Good?

Styrofoam cupcake stands are touted as an inexpensive way to get the stand that you need, without sacrificing style.  Many people choose this type of cupcake stand when all they need is to use it once, and be able to toss it out after they\’re finished.  There are a couple of problems with this plan, and in this post I want to show you what you need to know about these before buying them.

The most common styrofoam stand is the Sweet Server Cupcake Stand.  This will usually set you back about $10 or $12, so it may seem like if you never get another use out of it, it\’s not a big deal.  One of the biggest problems is that it\’s made from a very flimsy styrofoam that tends to break when assembling it.  Either return it, or you\’ll have to get good with the tape to repair it!

Another problem with using a material that\’s as light weight as styrofoam is that if the stand is not loaded up with cupcakes, it will blow away in the wind!  These are also prone to tipping over if the cupcakes aren\’t evenly loaded around the stand.  Being light weight is great for portability, but when it comes to practicality it doesn\’t make much sense at all!

Being able to recycle these cupcake stands is another major issue.  The are made from polystyrene, which is not able to be recycled everywhere.  Most large cities will have polystyrene recycling programs, but that involves taking it to a recycling center instead of tossing it in the recycling bin.

The best alternative to styrofoam is cardboard.  There are many different styles of cardboard cupcake stands that don\’t have the same styling, but work great as a single use stand.  Many of them can be weighed down from the under side so they don\’t blow away, and are easily recycled.

Single use cupcakes stands are great, but styrofoam probably isn\’t the best choice.  Look into cardboard before making a decision!
