Something I have wondered about for a while is why do we women shave our legs and other parts?

I have heard plenty of jokes about hirsute women in my time and I know that in some parts of Europe it is quite common for women never to see the sharp end of a razor. In the states it is much less common and I wonder why?

Using a ladies electric razor isn’t really that much of a chore, it is a lot easier than having to risk life and limb with a bladed razor thats for sure. But it still takes time, and that is one commodity that every women would agree is in short supply.

Why do women shave parts that 99.9% of the world will never see?

I don’t really have an answer that is anywhere like definitive, in fact I really just have more questions. Is it because it is expected of us by society, I think that may be part of it as even women who are single shave still. So that kills off the idea that you are shaving because the man in your life prefers it.

Is it more comfortable to not shave for a while and just let it all grow as nature intended? Well I have never found it to be particularly comfortable having hairy arm pits for a start so i can’t see how this idea stands out.

Maybe the question should really be why do some women not shave at all? My mum always said it was more healthy to have clean underarms and that it reduced the staining on my clothes.

Maybe we should all have a no shave week and see how many days it is before our partners notice. Would the person you share your bed with notice before the person who sits in the cubicle next to you does? Now that could be a domestic!
