Next you need flash card data recovery software that supports FAT32 (there is no need to explicitly get compact flash data recovery software as the one application will work for hard drives and flash devices). This software operates by reading the file allocation table for lost files and scanning the memory for data clusters (which make up your photos). The good news is that there are many freeware and commercial options to choose from and most offer a free scan (so you can try before you buy).
The success rate of the software will vary depending on what happened to your photos. If you deleted the files then there is a good chance they can be found. The longer you use the card though, the more likely it is that the deleted photos will be over-written.
