All sorts of trivial stuff you didn't know you needed to know.

Homemade Candle Holders

With a bit of ingenuity and skill, you can create unique and attractive homemade candle holders. A simple idea is a pretty glass bowl with water and floating candles. Floating candles come in a wide variety of shapes and fragrances. You can use a large bowl or a small one depending on the size and amount of candles. Several floral floating candles grouped in a large bowl of water with glass marbles or stones can be very attractive. You can even add a bit of food coloring to the water to add an extra bit of style.

Another idea for homemade candle holders is to use a large hurricane shade. Place a large column candle on a plate or ceramic candle holder to protect the surface that you place your candle onto. Place the hurricane shade over the candle and use either real or silk flowers around it as an accent. You can place pinecones, flowers, stones, marbles, glass beads or nuts inside of the shade to compliment your décor. Mix and match your materials and change them out for the seasons. In the summer sunflowers are attractive while pinecones and unusual twigs would be attractive for the winter.

You can tailor homemade candle holders to match the inside and outside areas of your home. A line of baby jars with tea lights adds a festive touch to an outdoor gathering. That same line of candle holders on a mantle will add a warm touch to your next gathering. The beauty of candles is that they add wandrmth and fragrance to your home without a lot of cost or work. Your candle holders can be simple or ornate depending on your mood and the occasion. Start looking around your home and yard and you will find some unique and unusual materials to use on your next craft project and create a candle holder that reflects your taste and style.
