The huge number of different computer desks available can be quite overwhelming, but by doing some home work and working out what you need and what style you like, you can bring the number of choices down. The desk you buy will depend on how often you use your computer, the size of your room, and what styles you like. If your computer is quite old and has a large CPU tower, then it will need to be stored inside the desk. Additional items like printers and fax machines will take up a lot of the desks surface area.
One of the most popular choices in computer desks is wood, but glass is becoming more and more popular all the time. Because glass is see through it makes the room feel a bit bigger and brighter, so its ideal for smaller rooms. Though you will be able to see all of the wires on the back side of the desk. Another thing is, they normally don’t have very good storage, like drawers and so on.
At most outlets you can choose from straight desks, ‘I’ shaped desks, and corner computer desks. Your average ‘I’ shaped desk will have 2 usable work surfaces, but they are normally larger and take up more room. If you are struggling for space then a corner computer desk might be just what you need, it can put tucked away out of your road. Although, because they are smaller you wont have as much surface space to work with.
If you don’t really use your computer that often then you could opt for a hutch or armoire style desk, they have doors, which means you can hide everything away after use. This type of desk is great if your computer is kept in the living room and you need it to be kept pretty tidy. If you pick out a desk that doesn’t have much storage and find out you need more, you can always get a separate storage unit to match your desk.
