World Cup 2010 South Africa – Video Replays and Goal Line Technology must be used save football

Jun.6,2010In the biggest World Cup play off football game in recent seasons a match between Ireland and France had another hand of god moment, well actually a cheater put his hand to the football, and thus scored the decisive goal resulting in France going through to the finals in South Africa. And thereby dashing the hopes of the Irish Nation. Calls to France should have been made for them to replay their match by the world. However all what happened what Sepp Blater made a joke at their expense. Having won the world cup in 1998 France had performed disastrously in 2002 crashing out in the group stages. So did they feel the need to use any means necessary to go to South Africa. And talking of South Africa did you know you can make really cheap calls to south Africa, in fact it is free from UK mobiles.
What would happen if in a World Cup final there was a goal scored in the very last minute of extra time just before a penalty shoot-out that was yet another hand of god moment? I think at that time the outcry from all in football would make the footballing authorities stand up and listen to the cry of the fans. At that point there will be chaos and debate in the highest echelons of power to make the world governing body FIFA to get in to the 21st century and use video technology in the rules of critical decisions.
The arguments are many and range from the pathetic to the absurd. Some include sticking with traditions and not changing with the times. This argument is not a valid one. Football in the 21st century has implications of hundreds of peoples lives. If for instance a team is playing to retain its Premiership status on the last day and its a winner takes all game. Just suppose an illegal goal is not chalked off, then the wrong team could have ended up going in to the Championship. This would result in many people being made redundant and wages being cut to managed in a lower league.
Video replays take too much time. That is a joke. Every major sporting game has instant video replays. Agreed the American Football take a day to play due the time-out and stoppages but in Rugby and other sports they use it very effectively. Referee Bjorn Kuipers overruled a linesman after consulting with another assistant referee. In the same time it too Bjorn Kuipers to talk to his colleague it would be possible to have an video replay.
Video replays are inconclusive. Well if that is the case in one particular game then give the benefit to the attacking team. In all honestly with the many different cameras at a football ground decisions should be quite easily made.
In conclusion the games need to be brought kick and screaming into the 21st century before a decision make the whole world laugh at the beautiful game. Just suppose in the upcoming world cup in South Africa a team wins it by cheating then how can they be truly called World Champions, perhaps they will be dubbed Champion Cheaters of South Africa 2010.
