Many people feel the need for having a massive sofa in their living room but in many cases this is not the ideal solution to provide some seating. Having just one sofa in your living room does not really give any sort of face to face seating for when you have guests over and can become quite inconvenient. A large sofa in a small room can also be quite overpowering and furthermore can make a small room seem even smaller because it takes up so much visual space. In many cases most people would be better advised to get a smaller 2 seater sofa and a couple of armchairs and this gives rise to some exciting possibilities…
Having the opportunity to buy some arm chairs for your home really is an exciting thing, you don’t – and I wouldn’t advise you too – buy some armchairs that match your sofa. Instead why don’t you try looking for some armchairs that are a complete contrast to your smaller sofa. If you smaller sofa is made from leather why don’t you take a look at some wacky patterned fabric clad armchairs to add a bit of personality in to your home. If however your sofa is a patterned fabric style, why don’t you take a look at getting a leather armchair so that it is a direct contrast in terms of texture and style.
Of course if you feel that you don’t have the space for a couple of extra armchairs or that the layout of your living room simply won’t allow it you could always look at getting another two seater sofa to compliment your existing one. If you have had your current sofa for a number of years you may well find that it is no longer produce and this can cause a problem because you will never get an exact match. If you find yourself in this situation I would really advise you to not try and match a new sofa to your existing one – it is extremely difficult to do – even if you find a matching fabric or leather, sun damage and general wear and tear will make them look different. I would really advise that like the armchair advice that you take a look at getting a sofa that is a complete contrast to your existing one.
Regardless of what you choose to do with the seating in your living room, always make sure that you have more than one sofa to sit on as it is much more comfortable when you have guests to visit.
